About the Course
In this self-directed online course, you will move beyond the basics of CBT and learn how to thoughtfully adapt your approach to meet the developmental needs of children and adolescents. Through creative and play-based strategies, you’ll build the skills to deliver CBT in ways that are both engaging and clinically effective for young clients. The first portion of the course focuses on foundational CBT practice with children and youth, including an introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Play Therapy, core CBT interventions, case formulation, and the role of attachment in treatment. From there, the course shifts into comprehensive, play-based treatment planning for the most common presenting concerns in children and adolescents—ranging from anxiety, depression, and anger to nonsuicidal self-injury and identity development. Each module follows a single client case from start to finish, allowing you to see how concepts translate into real-world practice across the full course of treatment. If you’re looking for a resource-rich training, this course delivers. You’ll gain access to a wide range of newly developed, ready-to-use handouts and practical tools designed to support your work immediately—whether you’re just beginning or looking to expand your existing CBT skillset.
A Creative & Practice-Focused Approach
This child and youth training distinguishes itself through a highly creative and engaging approach to applying CBT in practice. Rather than focusing solely on theory, the course brings concepts to life through a diverse range of rich, relatable case examples, practical resource demonstrations, and play-based intervention strategies—all thoughtfully designed to reflect real-world clinical work with children and adolescents.

Through participation in this course, you’ll build a robust, ready-to-use toolbox filled with adaptable strategies, interventions, and resources designed to support your confidence and effectiveness in clinical settings.

Wow! This course really has it all. I'm a new psychotherapist and my dream has always been to work with children and youth. I took CBT because I knew it would look great on my resume because it is evidence-based. I learned SO MUCH in this course and feel like I can very easily and effectively take a wholistic approach to treatment with children and youth. Thank you!

This course was great! I've been a teacher for 6 years now and I've always wanted to take a comprehensive mental health course to help equip me in the classroom. This course provided me with so much information and examples that could easily be integrated into short little lessons or on the spot with my students. I'm still digesting, but have already been applying the interventions daily!
